6:57 PM - Night four of PaleyFest opens with a clip from the 2005 TV movie "Once Upon a Mattress" featuring a pre-"New Girl" Zooey Deschanel and a pre-"Glee" Matthew Morrison. Fun stuff. And boy don't we feel old that 2005 is considered "from the archives."
7:03 PM - Liz Meriwether takes the stage to inform us we'll be seeing tomorrow night's episode, the "hilariously" titled "Injured."
7:28 PM - After the screening, the moderator - TV Guide Magazine's Rob Moynihan - welcomes tonight's panelists: Katherine Pope! Jake Kasdan! Hannah Simone! Lamorne Morris! Max Greenfield! Jake Johnson! Zooey Deschanel! Liz Meriwether! Brett Baer! Dave Finkel! And of course, the Douchebag Jar!
7:32 PM - A discussion about Schmidt's douchiness leads Max to confess, "Look, I'm playing myself. I don't know what else to tell you."
7:36 PM - "I would say it's a combo of me and Liz," Zooey says about her character. "I think there is a 13-year-old version of myself and 13-year-old version of Liz [in her]."
7:40 PM - "I lived with somebody [once] and he took a crap on the floor and he denied it," Jake says about his horrible roommate experiences. "I only knew it was him because it wasn't me." Lamorne adds he once lived with three other girls. "This is going to sound really bad. I apologize now. But there's three different times [a month when]..." This leads Hannah to note she can't believe how many female stereotypes are used in his story.
7:44 PM - Talk of the cast being captured in various states of undress leads Zooey to tease Max about his "tiny nipples and moles." She adds that they ultimately make him look more jacked.
7:48 PM - Hannah says she was blindsided by the Cece/Schmidt hook up: "Oh my God! I had a lot of respect for this Cece, now I have to [rethink] this whole character." Max was equally surprised for his character: "I don't know, this Cece thing has really put a wrench in his plans for the rest of his life." Hannah notes that the "rest of his life" part of his answer freaks her out.
7:52 PM - The producers indicate we haven't seen the last of Fat Schmidt. Look for more flashbacks of his pre-jacked days.
7:56 PM - Liz says don't expect Nick and Jess to get together anytime soon. "I think that where they are it just feels like... they got a lot of growth and learning [to go through]." That and some very dirty fan fiction the writers found about them has turned everyone off of the idea.
8:01 PM - "There's something improvisational about the whole thing," Zooey says about her relationship with the writers, noting that they're always writing up to and during shooting. "I feel like you're being really nice about [how disorganized] we are," Liz quips.
8:03 PM - Zooey describes upcoming guest star Dermot Mulroney's character - a single dad and father to one of her students - as "sophisticated," "debonair" and "fancy." Jake adds that Nick develops something of a man crush on him. "[The guys] haven't really been around like, a man," Liz jokes.
8:05 PM - Zooey on what else to expect for the rest of the season: "There's going to be a lot of nudity. Wink, wink. And by nudity I mean dialogue."
8:12 PM - A discussion about the show's theme song leads the actors to recount Jake's performance during the music video, which solicited tears of laughter during filming. This prompts Max to ask for a demonstration of Jake's skills. He obliges much to everyone's delight.
8:16 PM - After Hannah teases that Max serenades her in an upcoming episode, the crowd tries to get him a sing. Alas, no dice on this one.
8:20 PM - Time for audience Q&A.
8:23 PM - Talk of Schmidt's fear of the cat on the roof leads Max to reveal he's legitimately afraid of birds. Hannah adds she is too after having to work with one.
8:27 PM - Lamorne says he improbably got hurt filming the "Bells" episode as his fingers swelled up from all the bell ringing and needed to be iced in between takes. This leads to plenty of teasing from the cast.
8:30 PM - Zooey credits costume designer Debra McGuire for her look on the show. Liz adds she was legitimately nervous meeting her considering her resume includes "Friends."
8:34 PM - Lamorne indicates he only ever considered being an actor. "If I don't make it at this, someone's getting robbed."
8:36 PM - A fan asks if we'll see more online dating videos from Max. Perhaps so. The producers joke that there's more special effects in those videos than any other part of the show.
8:39 PM - That's a wrap on "New Girl!" I'll be back tomorrow for the "Parks & Recreation" panel so stay tuned!
