"Dinosaur," a Walt Disney Pictures production featuring stunning computer animation, will air as a presentation of "The Wonderful World of Disney," SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 4 (8:00-10:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network. The film will be presented in the HDTV format with 5.1-channel surround sound and video description via the SAP channel. (Rebroadcast. OAD: 5/19/02)
"Dinosaur" is a story set in the Cretaceous Age - 65 million years ago -- of a dinosaur egg that is taken on a perilous journey by predators but lands among a family of lemurs. The egg hatches to become Aladar (voiced by D.B. Sweeney, "Spawn"), who is adopted by the little creatures (lemurs voiced by Alfre Woodard, Ossie Davis, Max Casella and Hayden Panettiere) and begins to grow up. When a meteor shower devastates their domain, Aladar helps fellow dinosaurs in a desperate and treacherous search for a new habitat.
The voice cast: D.B. Sweeney as Aladar, Alfre Woodard as Plio, Ossie Davis as Yar, Max Casella as Zini, Hayden Panettiere as Suri, Samuel E. Wright as Kron, Julianna Margulies as Neera, Peter Siragusa as Bruton, Joan Plowright as Baylene, Della Reese as Eema; and additional voices provided by Matt Adler, Sandina Bailo-Lape, Edie Lehmann Boddicker, Zachary Bostrom and Cathy Cavadini.
The 2000 film was directed by Eric Leighton and Ralph Zondag ("We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story") and written by Walon Green ("Eraser"), Thom Enriquez, John Harrison, Robert Nelson Jacobs ("Chocolat"), Ralph Zondag and Rhett Reese ("Monsters, Inc."). The feature was produced by Walt Disney Pictures.
"DINOSAUR" IN HDTV:
The ABC Television Network's HDTV broadcast of "Dinosaur" will air in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC's selected HDTV format, with 5.1-channel surround sound and video description via the Secondary Audio Programming (SAP) channel.
