"60 MINUTES" SURPRISE PUTS DUSTIN HOFFMAN IN A DRIVE DOWN MEMORY LANE AND MAKES HIM FEEL "YOUNGER" -- "60 MINUTES" SUNDAY

First he was surprised, then sentimental, and finally, Dustin Hoffman said "wow," as he looked at a red Alfa Romeo that was just like the one his first movie character used to ride into the hearts of millions of moviegoers 37 years ago. It was a 1960s moment in "The Graduate" when Hoffman's character desperately drives through traffic to a church to stop the wedding of his true love to another man -- all to the acoustic guitar beat of Simon & Garfunkle's "Mrs. Robinson." The actor remembers it well and almost recreates it for Steve Kroft in a car 60 MINUTES borrowed with which to surprise him. Kroft's interview with Hoffman will be broadcast on 60 MINUTES Sunday, Nov. 28 (7:00-8:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Upon seeing the Alfa Romeo Spider, the same make and model of the one his character drove in the 1967 classic film, Hoffman began to reminisce. "They called [the car] 'The Graduate' afterwards," he tells Kroft. "I haven't seen one likewow."

Hoffman then takes Kroft for a cruise down California's coastal highway that turns into a drive down memory lane. He explains what it was like in 1967 with the film crew in a helicopter above him. "Instead of going 50 miles per hour, like I'm doing now, they kept telling me 'Don't let a car pass you. You're in a hurry to stop the wedding'.A couple of timesI almost bought the ranch," he says.

"It's interesting because I haven't driven this car since I made the movie and -- what's that? -- 37 years ago?" he asks Kroft. "And it does make me feel younger," says the 67-year-old acting legend. "I feel, you know, 62, 63," he deadpans.
