THE PROCESS OF THE MAKEOVER OF THE OKVATH FAMILY FROM GILBERT, ARIZONA IS THE SUBJECT OF "EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION -- HOW'D THEY DO THAT?," MONDAY, MARCH 14

"Extreme Makeover: Home Edition -- How'd They Do That? (Okvath Family and University Medical Center)" - The producers from "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" literally open every door to show how Ty Pennington and his team of designers, workers and contractors are able to change the lives of deserving families as they rebuild the entire interior and exterior of a run-down house in just seven days. "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition: How'd They Do That?" will air MONDAY, MARCH 14 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.

On Sunday, March 13, viewers will witness how the design team made more than one dream come true for eight-year old Kassandra Okvath from Gilbert, Arizona, who is recovering from cancer. She is an adorable little girl who makes an impression on everyone she meets. She and her family were thrilled when they learned that the floor of the children's hospital at the University Medical Center in Tucson, Arizona, where Kassandra has been receiving treatment, would receive a complete renovation in just seven days. What Kassandra and her family didn't know was that, while one design team was making over the hospital floor, another team was replacing the Okvath house - 90 miles away in Gilbert - with a brand new 5300-sq. ft. home at the same time, completing it in the identical, exciting seven-day time frame.

The process of their particular home makeover is the subject of this episode of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition: How'd They Do That?" As with all of the intense remodeling projects the show undertakes, there is a great deal that goes on that does not make it into the final broadcast. Now viewers can see all of that and more, including:

* Ty's secret room for Kassandra, where he turned her bedroom into a delightful indoor garden that includes a butterfly gazebo and a flowerpot bench made with brushes.

* How Preston came up with a solution for the proper lighting effect in the family's theater room.

* How Paige created a gymnastic mural for six-year-old Gabby's room with help from Olympic medalist Carly Patterson, who does a tumbling routine on a mat while photographers capture it.

* How Ed remained dedicated to working on his furniture projects on crutches, even after he developed blisters.

The design team for this episode of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" features team leader Ty Pennington, Paige Hemmis, Constance Ramos, Preston Sharp and Ed Sanders. The series is produced by Endemol USA, a division of Endemol Holding. It's executive-produced by Tom Forman. This program carries a TV-PG parental guideline.
