It was a desperate and frustrating search - 9-1-1 operators and police struggled to locate Michael Wamsley and girlfriend Janelle Hornickel, who were wandering aimlessly during a blinding Nebraska snowstorm, before it was too late. The couple, it turns out, were high on methamphetamine, or "crystal meth," which left them lost and hopelessly confused. Cynthia McFadden talks with Wamsley and Hornickel's friends and family about how the childhood sweethearts found themselves in this dire situation. The couple's story is an allegory for so many who have lost their way to this dangerous drug, which is more powerful and addictive than ever. Once associated with outlaw bikers and truckers, crystal meth now has a reach that extends from the nightclubs of New York to the small towns of America's heartland. "Primetime Live" airs THURSDAY, MARCH 3 (10:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.
Also: "Primetime" teams up with a child safety expert and, with the permission of parents, puts some teens to the test to see how vulnerable they are to potential abductors. The result is a revealing look at how the girls react to some typical ploys used by predators. With astonished parents looking on, several girls fall for the tricks and find themselves in potentially dangerous positions, while others manage to stay safe. The expert tells Chris Cuomo what girls can do to prevent themselves from becoming victims.
And: Charles Gibson updates the story of formerly conjoined twins Jade and Erin Buckles as they celebrate their first birthday.
Plus: A preview of Diane Sawyer's exclusive interview with model Petra Nemcova, who narrowly escaped death in the Southeast Asia tsunami. The full interview will air during a special edition of "Primetime Live" on Wednesday, March 9 (10:00-11:00 p.m., ET).
DIANE SAWYER, CHRIS CUOMO, CYNTHIA MCFADDEN and JOHN QUIQONES are the anchors of "Primetime Live." SHELLEY ROSS is the executive producer.
