ABC TO AIR THE IRRESISTIBLY CHARMING COMEDY, "ABOUT A BOY," AS A NETWORK TELEVISION PREMIERE SATURDAY, APRIL 9

Starring Golden Globe Award Winner Hugh Grant

Boys will be boys... and some men will be boys, when ABC Television Network airs "About a Boy," starring Hugh Grant, Toni Collette, Rachel Weisz and Nicholas Hoult. The movie, nominated for an Academy Award for Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material Previously Produced, will make its network television debut as the "ABC Saturday Movie of the Week," SATURDAY, APRIL 9 (9:00-11:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.

Based on Nick Hornby's popular British novel by the same title, "About a Boy" tells the story of a determined and immature bachelor named Will Lightman - rich, successful, and with no real commitments. Ready to stoop to anything in order to meet women, Will pretends to be a struggling single parent by attending the weekly meetings of a support group for singles with children. Alone and in his thirties, his life is forever altered the day he is introduced to 12-year old Marcus. Marcus helps Will reach a surprising new level of maturity, and in exchange Will provides guidance on how to be a "cool kid."

Starring are Hugh Grant ("Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason," "Love Actually," "Four Weddings and a Funeral") as Will, Toni Collette ("Changing Lanes," "The Sixth Sense") as Fiona, Rachel Weisz ("Constantine," "Runaway Jury") as Rachel and Nicholas Hoult (TV series "Star" and "The Fallen Curtain") as Marcus.

"About a Boy" is directed by Chris Weitz ("American Pie," "Down to Earth") and Paul Weitz ("In Good Company," "American Pie"). The screenplay is written by Peter Hedges ("Pieces of April," "What's eating Gilbert Grape"), with writing credits (novel) given to Nick Hornby. Presented by Tribeca Productions and distributed by Universal Home Entertainment and Universal Pictures.
