"EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION - HOW'D THEY DO THAT?" GOES BEHIND THE SCENES FOR THE BUILDING OF A HOME FOR A LOCAL HERO AND SINGLE DAD WITH FIVE CHILDREN IN KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI
"Extreme Makeover: Home Edition -- How'd They Do That? Johnson Family" - On Sunday, May 8, viewers will witness how the design team provided a new home with much-needed extra space for Kansas City, Missouri firefighter Stephen Johnson and his five children - two of whom he adopted. Johnson is a hero to many, including the paramedic whose life he saved when he was called to the scene of a house explosion. The rebuilding of their home will be the subject of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition - How'd They Do That?," MONDAY MAY 9 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.
As with all of the intense remodeling projects that "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" undertakes, there is a great deal that goes on that does not make it into the final broadcast. Now viewers can see how the Johnson's 1200 square-foot house was transformed into a stunning two-story home that will allow plenty of room for the devoted father and his children: Stephen Jr., 18, Duane, 14 and Gina, 12 -- plus two more children, Brandon, 15, and Ryan, 13, whom he adopted from the foster care system after their adoptive mother passed away.
The design team, homebuilder Kevin Green Homes, plus hundreds of crew members and volunteers joined forces to transform the house. Also, Trent Green and Tony Richardson from the Kansas City Chiefs came by to lend a helping hand. Meanwhile, the Johnson family enjoyed a vacation at Disney World.
The design team for this episode of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition - How'd The Do That" will feature team leader Ty Pennington, Paige Hemmis, Michael Moloney, Constance Ramos and Ed Sanders. The series is produced by Endemol USA, a division of Endemol Holding. David Goldberg is the president of Endemol USA. It's executive-produced by Tom Forman.
