Sandra Bullock stars in "28 Days," an engrossing drama of a young woman's struggle with alcohol addiction, airing as the "ABC Monday Movie of the Week," JULY 18 (9:00-11:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network (rebroadcast. OAD: 6/19/03). The feature, which also stars Steve Buscemi, Azura Skye, Viggo Mortensen and Elizabeth Perkins, will be presented in HDTV format with 5.1-channel surround sound and video description.
In "28 Days," newspaper columnist Gwen Cummings (Bullock, "Miss Congeniality" films, "Two Weeks Notice") is living the high life - in fact, she and her boyfriend are high most of the time on alcohol and drugs. During her latest binge, she arrives late to her sister's wedding, destroys the cake and then steals a limo that she crashes into a house in a quiet suburb. A judge gives her a choice of 28 days in jail or 28 days in rehab.
Gwen is in complete denial as she enters the rehab facility and she immediately sets out to beat the system. Elizabeth Perkins ("Must Love Dogs," "Cats & Dogs") portrays her sister, Steve Buscemi ("Big Fish," "Spy Kids 2 & 3") is her counselor, Viggo Mortensen ("Lord of the Rings" series) portrays a drug-abusing major league pitcher, Dominic West ("The Forgotten," "Chicago") is the boyfriend and Azura Skye ("Red Dragon," "Bandits") plays Gwen's 17-year-old, drug-addicted roommate.
