Although the Brooks family faces a challenging life in South Los Angeles with gang violence and civil disorder, they refuse to abandon their ideals of working hard and providing the best education. The Brooks house has suffered damage, but Mr. Brooks can only provide so much with his two jobs that support the seven-member family.
