What makes innocent people confess to brutal murders they didn�t commit? John Kogut was 21 years old when he confessed � and implicated two other friends � to the brutal rape and murder of a teenage girl. His detailed confession, combined with an apparent hair of the victim�s found in the van of one of the friends, convicted all three men to a 33-year sentence. Yet the most shocking discovery of the crime didn�t come until several years later, when Kogut�s confession was proven false through DNA testing. What happened in Kogut�s interrogation that prompted him to make a false confession, and how many others does this happen to? One study shows that in 23% of DNA exonerations for murder, people confessed to the crimes. Roberto Rocha voluntarily went in for questioning on a former classmate�s murder -- a 15-year-old female -- after two-plus years of the case being unsolved. But he ended up in an emotional interrogation and, despite having been in another country at the time of the murder, confessed to the crime. �Primetime� takes viewers inside the intense questioning to see how in the world this could happen.
