ABC News to Mark the Five-Year Anniversary of 9/11 With Division-Wide Coverage on September 11, 2006

ABC News will mark the five-year anniversary of 9/11 with division-wide coverage � �9/11/06: Where Things Stand� -- on Monday, September 11, 2006.

Monday�s �Good Morning America� will originate from St. Paul�s Chapel, located directly across the street from Ground Zero. Diane Sawyer and Robin Roberts will anchor from the chapel which, in the days and months following the attacks, became the spiritual base for recovery and relief efforts. The broadcast will feature interviews with former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and New York Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton. Additionally, Chris Cuomo will report from Ground Zero.

�ABC World News with Charles Gibson� has been granted rare access to a chapel in New York City, where family members of 9/11 victims, for whom no identifiable remains exist, have gathered over the last five years to grieve for their lost loved ones. The chapel sits adjacent to a temporary morgue, which is home to the approximately 13,000 unidentified remains from the World Trade Center. �World News� will also feature reports on the country�s preparedness to counter another possible terrorist attack and the progress that has been made on the war on terror.

Charles Gibson will also anchor a special edition of �Primetime� -- �9/11/06: Where Things Stand� -- on Monday at 10:00 p.m., ET (approximately), following the conclusion of the ABC miniseries �The Path to 9/11.� Among the issues the special will examine: How safe are we five years later?; Why hasn�t Osama Bin Laden been captured?; What more needs to be done to protect the U.S. from future attacks? Chief Investigative correspondent Brian Ross, Justice Department correspondent Pierre Thomas and �Good Morning America Weekend� co-anchor Kate Snow will report on these and other subjects. Additionally, Thomas Kean, chair of the 9/11 Commission, and Richard Clarke, a former White House counterterrorism official and now an ABC News consultant, will appear live with Mr. Gibson.

Beginning Monday evening, �Nightline� co-anchor Terry Moran will report live from Afghanistan, the first front of the war on terror. Moran will examine the continued fight against al Qaeda and Taliban militant forces, the ongoing hunt for Bin Laden, and the Afghan government's relationship with the United States. In addition to reporting for �Nightline,� Moran will report for all ABC News� broadcast and platforms. �Nightline� co-anchor Cynthia McFadden will anchor the broadcast live from New York City.

ABC News Radio�s programming will include live, anchored coverage of the events taking place throughout the day at Ground Zero, the White House, the Pentagon and in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Correspondents Gil Gross, Jim Hickey, Aaron Katersky, Larry Jacobs and Cheri Preston will be at Ground Zero; Ann Compton will report from the White House; Pam Coulter will be at the Pentagon, and Steven Portnoy will report from Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

ABCNEWS.com will provide extensive coverage of the anniversary with a comprehensive offering of online resources, including video clips, interactive features and message boards to complement ABC News' broadcasts. The site will also offer news updates throughout the day.

ABC News Now will provide live coverage of the day's events and ceremonies in New York and Washington, DC, and will feature special 9/11 anniversary programming with newsmaker interviews and updates on where America stands five years later.
