CHIEFS-COLTS & COWBOYS-SEAHAWKS DOUBLEHEADER FEATURED ON NBC'S WILDCARD SATURDAY
Michaels & Madden in Seattle, Hammond & Collinsworth in Indy
CHICAGO December 31, 2006 The National Football League today announced that the Kansas City Chiefs (9-7) at the Indianapolis Colts (12-4) and the Dallas Cowboys (9-7) at the Seattle Seahawks (9-7) will be featured in NBC's Wildcard Saturday doubleheader games this Saturday Jan. 6. Coverage begins at 4 p.m. ET with a special Wildcard Saturday edition of the "Football Night in America" studio show.
Al Michaels (play-by-play), John Madden (analyst) and Andrea Kremer (sideline reporter) will call the Cowboys vs. Seahawks. Tom Hammond (play-by-play) will team with Cris Collinsworth (analyst) and Bob Neumeier (reporter) for the Chiefs vs. Colts.
Bob Costas (host) and analysts Sterling Sharpe and Jerome "The Bus" Bettis, and reporter Peter King of Sports Illustrated, comprise the "Football Night in America" studio team.
AFC - NO. 6 CHIEFS AT NO. 3 COLTS:
The No. 6 seed Chiefs travel to the RCA Dome, where the Colts completed their first perfect season at home since 1958 when the Baltimore Colts won the NFL championship. As always with the Colts, all eyes will be on Peyton Manning, who today surpassed Joe Montana with his 274th career TD pass. But the key matchup will likely be Kansas City's RB Larry Johnson, who was third in the NFL in rushing yards (1651) on an NFL record carries this season (416), against an Indianapolis defense that ranks last in the NFL in rushing yards.
Hammond (play-by-play), Collinsworth (analyst) and Neumeier (reporter) will have the call.
NFC - NO. 5 COWBOYS AT NO. 4 SEATTLE:
The Cowboys head into Wildcard Saturday having lost three of four since a two-game division lead in early December, coming after Tony Romo took the reigns of "America's Team" as the starting QB. The Seahawks are the defending NFC Champion, falling to the Steelers in Super Bowl XL last year in Detroit. Seattle's win today over Tampa Bay ended their three-game losing streak. The Cowboys and Seahawks have met 10 times in their history, with Dallas holding a 6-4 advantage in the series. This will be the first postseason encounter between the teams.
Michaels (play-by-play), Madden (analyst) and Kremer (sideline reporter) will have the call.
