CBS NEWS "48 HOURS MYSTERY" TO BROADCAST ENCORE PRESENTATION OF "DEATH OF A DREAM," NOW ALSO AVAILABLE AS A BOOK BY CORRESPONDENT ERIN MORIARTY & PRODUCER PAUL LAROSA, SATURDAY, JUNE 7 ON THE CBS TELEVISION NETWORK
CBS News 48 HOURS MYSTERY will broadcast an encore presentation of "Death of a Dream," recently released as a book by correspondent Erin Moriarty and producer Paul LaRosa, on Saturday, June 7 (10:00-11:00 PM ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
The broadcast profiles the case of dancer, Catherine Woods, who came to New York with dreams of becoming a Broadway star, but made headlines instead, when she was found in her apartment, stabbed 20 times and with her throat slashed.
As the investigation wore on, stunning revelations about Catherine's life emerged, including the fact that the struggling performer was working as an exotic dancer to pay the bills and she was at the center of a bitter love triangle involving two men. Eventually one of the men was convicted in a trial that hinged on a surprisingly small piece of evidence that, in an ironic twist, was actually presented by his defense attorney's, sealing his fate.
The book, which Publisher's Weekly hails as, "a compelling account of [Catherine's] horrifying murder," goes beyond the broadcast delivering a riveting true crime account from behind-the-scenes of the shocking case. This is the third release in the 48 HOURS MYSTERY series published by Pocket Books, a division of Simon and Schuster.
Erin Moriarty reports on this case of shattered dreams, obsession and violence, and speaks with four jurors who give a rare look back at the drama that unfolded in their decision. This broadcast is produced by Patti Aronofsky. Peter Schweitzer is the senior producer and Al Briganti is the executive editor. Susan Zirinsky is the executive producer.
