Shrek returns to television with the rest of the gang on the "ABC Wednesday Movie of the Week," DECEMBER 31 (8:00-10:00 p.m., ET). In "Shrek 2," Shrek and Fiona have happily tied the knot and come back from their honeymoon to find a letter from Fiona's parents inviting the lovable newlyweds over for dinner. Shrek and Fiona would like nothing better than to celebrate the special occasion with them, except for the fact that Fiona's parents have no clue that she's an ogre now. (Rebroadcast. OAD 11/24/06)
To add insult to injury, the Fairy Godmother has found out about the marriage and, in bringing it to the attention of Fiona's Father, the King, also points out an agreement that she and the King had made many years ago that Fiona would marry her son, Prince Charming. The King has no choice but to think of a plan to get rid of Shrek, so he seeks out the sword-fighting feline and self proclaimed ogre slayer, Puss In Boots. Will Puss In Boots do away with Shrek, or will love conquer all?
The star studded voice cast includes Mike Myers ("Austin Powers in Goldmember") as Shrek, Eddie Murphy ("Dr. Doolittle") as Donkey, Cameron Diaz ("In Her Shoes") as Princess Fiona, Julie Andrews ("The Princess Diaries") as Queen, Antonio Banderas ("Take the Lead") as Puss In Boots, John Cleese ("Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets") as King, Rupert Everett ("The Next Best Thing") as Prince Charming and Jennifer Saunders ("Absolutely Fabulous") as Fairy Godmother.
"Shrek 2" was directed by Andrew Adamson ("Shrek"), Kelly Asbury ("Spirit: Stallion of Cimarron"), and Conrad Vernon ("Morto the Magician"). The film was written by Andrew Adamson ("The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe") Joe Stillman ("King of the Hill"),
