A FATHER SEARCHES FOR THE SON HE LOST 30 YEARS AGO,
AND A DAUGHTER LOOKS FOR THE MOTHER WHO GAVE HER UP
AT BIRTH MORE THAN 40 AGO, ON ABC'S "FIND MY FAMILY"
"Evans & Finn" First, the "Find My Family" team sets out to help a father find the son he has spent three decades trying to locate. Then, with little information only her birth name and a pendant a 43-year-old woman searches for the mother who gave her up at birth. "Find My Family" airs MONDAY, DECEMBER14 (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET), on the ABC Television Network. Tim Green and Lisa Joyner are the hosts.
Tim Green travels to San Antonio, TX to meet Wavie Evans, 52, who is looking for the son he lost 30 years ago. Now a father of seven, Wavie yearns to complete his family by reconnecting with his son, Tyrone, whom his then-girlfriend gave up for adoption three decades ago. His current wife and his family have tried to help, but to no avail. As Tyrone's adoption was private, the "Find My Family" team has only one piece of information a birthdate. They begin the incredibly challenging task of contacting thousands of men born on that date in California. Will "Find My Family" be able to track down Tyrone?
Then "Find My Family" heads to Santa Clarita, CA to meet with Maria Finn, a 43-year-old woman who wishes to reconnect with her birth mother. Maria was raised in a loving environment and couldn't be happier with her adoptive family. She wants to make sure her birth mother knows that her life has been a blessed one and, more importantly, that she made the right decision giving up Maria for adoption. Maria's adoptive mother, Rose Belle, also wants to thank Maria's birth mother for the incredible gift she was given. Maria has attempted her own search for years, but has no strong leads. She only has one tangible piece of information a St. Jude medal her birth mother left with her that she has worn daily for years. The "Find My Family" team has little to go on except the medal, Maria's birth name, Jude Genovese, and some generic family information left behind in her adoption file.
Each episode of "Find My Family" is a one-hour, self-contained show filled with moving moments when mothers, fathers, daughters and sons who lost touch for decades are reunited. It begins with the back stories of two different families in search of lost relatives. With only minimal information, the "Find My Family" team takes up the difficult and frustrating task of sifting through archives and records to uncover missing links. Then Lisa Joyner reaches out to the newly-found family members and lets them know that someone from their biological family has been looking for them. Tim Green narrates each story as it unfolds and meets with the people who originated the search. The in-person reunions take place at the "Family Tree," and a follow-up with each family concludes the episode.
Tom Forman, Julie Laughlin-Jones, Chris Coelen and Tony Yates are executive producers. "Find My Family" is produced by RelativityReal and RDF USA. It's broadcast with Spanish subtitles via secondary closed captioning. A TV parental guideline will be assigned closer to airdate.
