48 HOURS MYSTERY: "LIVE TO TELL: THE YEAR WE DISAPPEARED"
Cylin Busby recalls the dreadful night in 1979, when her father, John, a police officer, was ambushed and shot point blank in his car. Immediately, the children went and hid in the attic, convinced that they were next, until a team of police officers stormed the house and kept guard.
Convinced that a local thug, Melvin Reine, was behind the attempt on his life and that Reine would not stop until Busby and his family were all dead, the police officer overcame harrowing odds and survived the shooting and was determined to exact his revenge and protect his wife and children. Reine struck fear in the residents and police of Cape Cod long before the shooting. A convicted arsonist, Reine was suspected of murdering three people, but continued to walk free. As time went on, the Busbys realized that Reine's power over the town would never cease and that he would never be brought to justice.
Practically forced to leave the town, the Busbys went on the run, living in fear, changing their appearance and never divulging their past. Over the years, the family moved six times until, in 2003, the unexpected happened. It is a story of a horrific crime and the long-awaited justice that no one could predict.

48 HOURS MYSTERY: "TOXIC"
It was supposed to be a casual night out bowling with the guys, when Eric Miller got violently ill. When he was rushed to the hospital by his wife, doctors initially thought he was suffering from a bad case of the flu and after he got better he was released. But just six days later, he was rushed to the hospital again. Tests revealed that Miller had been poisoned with arsenic. With his condition quickly deteriorating, doctors worked tirelessly to save him, but their attempts were unsuccessful. On Dec. 2, 2000, 30-year-old Eric Miller died.
Miller was a promising pediatric AIDS researcher. Science was a passion he shared with his wife, Ann, who worked as a chemist. With the couple both surrounded by chemicals at work, was it possible that Eric's poisoning was an accident? One cop did not think so. Revealing emails, a suspicious relationship, a shocking suicide and a stunning revelation about when Eric was poisoned set this officer on a determined quest for answers.
For the next five years, this driven investigator along with Miller's family sought the answer to one single question - who killed Eric Miller? Then, a stunning admission would reveal the startling truth behind the medical mystery-turned-tragedy.
