A THROUPLE CHECKS INTO A MOTEL ROOM BUT ONLY A COUPLE WALKS OUT

"48 Hours" Reports on "Who Killed Aileen Seiden in Room 15?"

Saturday, Oct. 19

In April 2018, in the Florida Gulf Coast town of Eastpoint, a killer had struck. Aileen Seiden's beaten body was found dumped near a highway. The next day, a bloody motel room was discovered nearby. The back-to-back scenes prompted investigators to see if the two were connected. Correspondent Peter Van Sant and 48 HOURS reveal what they learned: that Seiden's unconventional relationship held the answers. The all-new episode, "Who Killed Aileen Seiden in Room 15?" will air Saturday, Oct. 19 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network and streaming on Paramount+.

Lt. Ronnie Jones of the Franklin County Sheriff's Office tells Van Sant the identity of Seiden's killer was a mystery from the start.

"What you worry about then is, are they loose in our community? What type of individual am I dealing with or individuals?" Jones says.

And then, less than 24-hours after Seiden's body was found, Jones received a call about another crime scene at the nearby Sportsman's Lodge Motel, room 15.

With the help of DNA tests, Jones connected Seiden with the motel room crime scene. Investigators uncovered surveillance footage that showed Seiden with two people on the day of her murder, and it was revealed that the three had an unconventional romantic relationship. They were a throuple: a romantic relationship among three people instead of the more typical two.

While a throuple may have walked into the motel room, only a couple walked out. Assistant prosecutor Jarred Patterson says, "We needed to know what happened inside that hotel room outside of three people entered and two came out carrying a body."

At 9:30 PM, ET/PT, Erin Moriarty reports on the murder of Cathy Krauseneck and the case against Jim Krauseneck, in an encore of 48 HOURS: "The Brighton Ax Murder." Judy Tygard is the executive producer of 48 HOURS. Watch 48 HOURS on CBS News 24/7, CBSNews.com, Paramount+ and YouTube.
