ATLAS SIX, THE (Amazon, New!) - The streamer has landed to small-screen rights to the fantasy novel from author Alexene Farol Follmuth, otherwise known as Olivie Blake: "The book begins when six of the uniquely talented magicians are selected to earn a place in The Alexandrian Society, the eternally powerful secret society in the world. The chosen - only six are chosen each decade - will secure a life of power and prestige beyond their wildest dreams. But at what cost? Each of the six newest recruits has their reasons for accepting the Society's elusive invitation. Even if it means growing closer than they could have imagined to their most dangerous enemies - or risking unforgivable betrayal from their most trusted allies - they will fight tooth and nail for the right to join the ranks of the Alexandrians." Brightstar's Tanya Seghatchian and John Woodward will executive produce alongside Farol Follmuth. (Deadline.com)
BAD MONKEY/TED LASSO (Apple) - Writer/producer Ashley Nicole Black has signed an overall deal with producer Warner Bros. Television. The pact calls for her to develop new series projects on an exclusive basis. (Deadline.com)
CLEANING LADY, THE (FOX) - Liza Weil and Eva De Dominici will both recur on the newcomer. Look for Weil as Katherine Russo, "the Assistant Special Agent in Charge at the Las Vegas FBI field office. Described as intelligent, stern and confident, Russo previously worked alongside Special Agent Garrett Miller (Oliver Hudson) in the field before she was promoted, so she doesn't mince words when she speaks with Miller about their current case." And De Dominici will play "Arman's (Adan Canto) wife, Nadia Morales, gorgeous and sultry, she manages the exclusive cigar club La Habana with her husband. But she's not just a pretty face, she's the Lady Macbeth in their relationship, encouraging and sometimes pushing Arman to ask for what he deserves within the crime syndicate. Nadia is comfortable using both her beauty and her brains to help Arman close important deals in Vegas." (Deadline.com, TVLine.com)
CLIFFHANGER (FOX, New!) - Melissa Byer and Treena Hancock are spearheading a small screen take on T.J. Middleton's (real name Tom Binding) novel at the network, billed as "a darkly comedic one-hour drama following the quirky exploits of rideshare driver Audrey Greenwood, who emerges from the pandemic with a startling realization: she never wants to see her husband Al’s face again. So, one dark and stormy night, fueled by rage and tequila, she tries to kill him. But when things don’t go exactly as she planned, Audrey finds herself embroiled in a twisty murder mystery which ricochets around her small seaside town." Stan Spry, Jeff Holland, Drew Brown and Evan Corday of Cartel Entertainment will also executive produce for FOX Entertainment with Binding consulting. (Variety.com)
REASONABLE DOUBT (Hulu) - The legal drama has cast Michael Ealy as Damon, "a former client of Jax's who's been in prison for sixteen years for a murder he didn't commit"; Thadeus J. Mixson as Spenser, "the son of Jax and Lewis [who] makes it clear that he prefers to spend time with his dad (a video game designer) instead of his mom"; Aderinsola Olabode as "sweet, loving, Naima, the daughter of Jax and Lewis"; Pauletta Washington as Jax's mother's Mama Lu, "opinionated and a little overbearing"; and Sean Patrick Thomas as Brayden Mitchell, "a client at Jax's firm and immediately rubs her the wrong way." (Deadline.com)
RIVERDALE (The CW) - Chris O'Shea will recur on the current season as Percival Pickens, "Riverdale's newest resident. Although he presents as charming (and is), Percival's also manipulative, powerful and increasingly dangerous as he comes into conflict with our characters, most especially Archie. A descendent of one of Riverdale's founding fathers, General Pickens, Percival wants to turn Riverdale into a "utopia," a dark agenda he pursues quietly but ruthlessly." (Deadline.com)
SWEET VALLEY (The CW, New!) - Ashley Wigfield is looking to bring Francine Pascal's "Sweet Valley High" books to TV at the netlet: "Sweet Valley is the town everyone dreams of growing up in. And there's no better example of that promise than Elizabeth Wakefield. But when her missing twin sister Jessica miraculously returns, it reignites a lifelong rivalry. It falls to new girl Enid Ruiz to discover that someone (or something) is pulling all the strings, but can she convince the twins that putting their personal war aside is the only way to drag Sweet Valley's dark roots into the California sunshine?" Fake Empire's Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage and Chernin Entertainment's Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping will also executive produce for CBS Studios and Paramount TV Studios. (Deadline.com)
THIS BEAUTIFUL LIFE (NBC, New!) - Writers Erin Cardillo and Richard Keith are set to team with director Jason Winer for a potential drama which "follows a 30-year-old woman who is living her best single life in the city but wakes up in an idyllic small town 10 years later with a husband, a child and absolutely no idea how she got there. Thinking she's lost her memory or her sanity, she searches for answers only to discover that something much bigger than her own psyche is behind this phenomenon... and that she's not the only one trapped in this beautiful life." The project is set up at 20th Television, home to Winer and Jon Radler's Small Dog Picture Company. (Deadline.com)
WOULDN'T IT BE NICE (CBS, New!) - Husband-and-wife duo Meaghan Rath and Jack Cutmore-Scott are set to star in a proposed single-camera comedy at the Eye: "Set at Walnut Hill on the Water, a small family-run wedding venue in Black Mountain, North Carolina, Wouldn't It Be Nice centers around Georgina (Rath) and Nick (Cutmore-Scott), two co-managers who both wish they were a solo act. Together with their dedicated but dysfunctional staff, they work each week to set aside their hatred for each other and celebrate couples in love. The show is a celebration of partnerships - in love, business, and friendship - and how it often takes a messy collision of opposite worlds and opposite brains to make something truly special." Writer Kristen Bartlett and director James Griffiths are behind the project with all four executive producing alongside Fee-Fi-Fo Films' Brett Pirtle for CBS Studios. (Deadline.com)
