Spike TV a Go for August 11

CHICAGO (thefutoncritic.com) -- After an aborted attempt on June 16, TNN will officially change its name to Spike TV on Monday, August 11 at 9:00 a.m. eastern. The self-described "first network for men" will unveil two new daily features on that date, "CBS MarketWatch" and "Zero to Sixty," while a host of other new series and returning shows will fill out the network's re-branded lineup.

Here's a breakdown of what to expect in the coming weeks from Spike TV (via press release):

-- "Most Extreme Elimination Challenge" (Thursday, July 31 at 9:00/8:00c) - the half-hour import returns for a second season as a lead-in to Spike TV's animated lineup "The Strip."

-- "Slamball" (Monday, August 4 at 11:05/10:05c) - the new sport gets an extended second season when it returns at a new day and time following the network's highly-rated "WWE Raw."

-- "CBS Marketwatch" (Monday, August 11 at various times) - one of the premier financial news outlets, will provide updates two times a day on the current state of world markets and the economy. Noted business reporter Bambi Francisco anchors "CBS Marketwatch" updates.

-- "Zero to Sixty" (Monday, August 11 at various times) - daily one-minute reports on the latest trends and news from the sleek, turbo-charged automotive industry. Formula One racer Danica Patrick, one of the world's top female drivers, hosts "Zero to Sixty."

-- "Road to Slamball" (Monday, August 11 at TBA) - a one-hour, behind-the-scenes reality movie of this popular extreme team sport.

-- "Party With Spike" (Monday, August 11 at TBA) - a one-hour special hosted by rapper Busta' Rhymes at the Playboy Mansion featuring Pam Anderson, Kelsey Grammer, Carmen Electra, Fred Durst and Kid Rock.

-- "Most Extreme Elimination Challenge" (Monday, August 11 at TBA) - a special edition of its hit series in which contestants and games are named Spike.

-- "WWE Raw" (Monday, August 11 at 9:00/8:00c) - Spike TV will telecast its signature and highly rated, two-hour, live weekly sports entertainment program, which will include a special surprise Spike moment.

-- "Ride With Funkmaster Flex" (Saturday, August 16 at 7:30/6:30c) - Spike TV's take on MTV's "Cribs" kicks off as celebrities and athletes get the chance to show off the fancy cars they own.

-- "Go Inside: Animal House" (Sunday, August 24 at 9:00/8:00c) - a documentary special on the classic film which marks its 25th anniversary.
