NBC Enterprises Axes 'Shop & Style'

CHICAGO (thefutoncritic.com) -- NBC Enterprises has canceled its syndicated series "Shop & Style" after just two weeks on the air.
The series, a showcase for the company's ShopNBC channel, began airing August 4 on four NBC owned-and-operated stations in New York, Chicago, Philadelphia and San Francisco. The show's final episode will air tomorrow.
NBC Enterprises issued a short statement about the news saying the series "provided ShopNBC with increased online traffic, new customers and additional vendors. Our next step is to evaluate the results and determine where to go with the concept."
The real culprit however seems to be the show's ratings. In Chicago, the series averaged a paltry 1.0 rating and 3 share in its 10:00 a.m. central time slot, less than half of former time slot holder "The Other Half's" recent average (2.2/7). New York and San Francisco experienced similar results with only Philadelphia showing a slight increase.
Various sources indicate that the poor showing, along with an apparent lack of sales driven by the show, led to the series' quick demise.
