CHICAGO (thefutoncritic.com) -- The TV-related DVD craze continues to show no end as a host of new titles were announced this week. Here's a breakdown of the latest rumblings:
-- Fans of MTV's "The Real World" can look for two new titles on November 11 with "The Real World You Never Saw: Paris" and "The Real World: Hook-Ups" scheduled to street on that date. Each is presented in full screen with a suggested retail price of $14.95.
-- The WB's "The Jamie Kennedy Experiment" is set for the DVD treatment later this as Paramount Home Video will release the complete first season of the hidden-camera series. The four-disc set is scheduled for December 2 and features a retail price of $39.95. Extras and additional information will be announced closer to the release date.
-- Comedy Central's home entertainment arm has announced it will release "Strangers With Candy: The Complete Second Season" and "The Best of Insomnaic: Volume 2" by year's end. "Candy" streets on November 4 while "Insomniac" hits on October 21. Complete specs and extras for each set were not available. Meanwhile, the third season of "South Park" will make the leap from Warner Bros. to Paramount Home Entertainment for its complete third season on December 16. Extras remain to be announced while the retail price is $49.95.
-- A&E will go ahead with the second season of "Profiler" on November 25. Full specs will be announced closer to its release date. The network's recent telefilm "The Mayor of Casterbridge" is also headed for release on September 30. Lastly, fans of A&E's British import "MI-5" can look forward to the show's complete (and uncut) first season to reach the format this winter from the BBC's home entertainment arm.
-- HBO reps confirmed during last week's DVD Entertainment 2003 conference that the company's home entertainment arm is planning DVD releases of "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "The Wire," "Real Sex" and "Taxicab Confessions" however no specific dates were mentioned.
-- The long delayed DVD of "The Ben Stiller Show" is apparently on target for later this year from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. Stiller himself along with the cast are hard at work on some new features for the set.
-- Universal Home Entertainment has slated "The Incredible Hulk: The Television Series Ultimate Collection" for October 21 just in time for the character's big screen home video release. The six-disc set includes 18 episodes of the series rated by fans as their favorites. The set's suggested retail price is $69.98.
-- Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment has revealed its plans to release "Forever Knight" on DVD. The first of its three seasons (which is being marketed as a trilogy) is slated for an October 21 release date. The five-disc set comes in full frame and Dolby Stereo 2.0 with no extras. The company lists a suggested retail price of $79.95.
-- Anchor Bay is set to go forward with both seasons of the cult classic NBC series "Crime Story." The first season is being targeted for November with season two coming some time next summer. Michael Mann ("Heat," "Miami Vice") executive produced the drama which starred Dennis Farina ("Get Shorty") and featured guest appearances from such notable future stars as David Caruso, Michael Rooker, Ving Rhames, Gary Sinise and Julia Roberts.
-- Also on tap at Anchor Bay is the complete third season of "Xena: Warrior Princess." The new set is a go for February and will feature newly re-mastered transfers of each episode and new Dolby 5.1 audio tracks. Extras for both "Crime Story" and "Xena" remain to be announced. Lastly, the company is working on the complete first season of "Three's Company" for a spring 2004 release date. Again, specific features and extras will be announced at a later date.
