CHICAGO (thefutoncritic.com) -- Creator David E. Kelley has decided to scrap next week's premiere episode of CBS' "The Brotherhood of Poland, N.H." The Eye will instead air a recut version of the show's second episode in its place. The episode, entitled "Fallen Acorns," will feature three scenes from the previously intended pilot along with one additional new scene.
The announcement was made via press release to the nation's television critics. "After filming the first six episodes, it became clear that 'Falling Acorns' was more representative of the series than the original pilot," Kelley states in the release. The news marks the third iteration of the show's first episode. The majority of the original pilot had to be reshot when actor Chris Penn signed on to replace Brian Haley on the series.
This isn't the first time a CBS show has revamped itself so close to its premiere date. In the fall 2001, the producers of "The Agency" opted to use a recut version of its second episode as its premiere installment in response to the September 11 attacks.
"Brotherhood" stars Randy Quaid, John Carroll Lynch and Chris Penn as three brothers who face challenges in their families and careers in the small town of Poland, New Hampshire.
