CHICAGO (thefutoncritic.com) -- FOX has formally picked up its veteran comedy "That '70s Show" for a seventh season. The news means fans will keep on grooving with the show through May 2005.
The pickup comes as little surprise considering FOX and distributor Carsey-Werner-Mandabach have spent the past year locking up the cast through the period. Topher Grace was the last regular to re-up through the 2004-05 season (read the story) signing a one-year deal last month while Ashton Kutcher was locked in over the summer (read the story).
Co-stars Mila Kunis, Danny Masterson, Laura Prepon, Wilmer Valderrama, Debra Jo Rupp and Kurtwood Smith all previously signed on for a seventh season as part of their new deals for the show's current season (read the story).
Last season, "That '70s Show" finished in the top 25 of all broadcast series among adults 18-34 and adults 18-49. The renewal means FOX has locked up three of its tentpole series through the 2004-05 season. Previously picked up were the network's animated comedies "The Simpsons" and "King of the Hill."
