FOX Gives 'Beene' February Return Date, Expands 'Simple Life'

CHICAGO (thefutoncritic.com) -- After a seven month hiatus, "Oliver Beene" is set to return to FOX in February.

The network announced yesterday it plans kick off the show's second season on Wednesday, February 4 at 9:30/8:30c following an expanded edition of "American Idol's" results show featuring the semi-finalists for its third season. "Beene" will then settle into its regular home, Sundays at 7:30/6:30c, on February 8. To make room for the series, "King of the Hill," the network's current 7:30/6:30c time slot holder, will move to 7:00/6:00c beginning that night.

FOX had originally targeted "Beene" for Sundays at 7:00/6:00c (read the story). No reason was given for the change. The network has committed to 13 episodes for the show's second season in addition to three installments that were held over from its first season.

Meanwhile, FOX has expanded its run of "The Simple Life" by adding an all-new one-hour episode of the series on Tuesday, January 13 at 8:00/7:00c. The new installment will fall between the sixth episode (Wednesday, January 7 at 8:30/7:30c) and the season finale (Wednesday, January 14 at 8:30/7:30c).

Lastly, it looks like "Boston Public" is staying put on Fridays as FOX has scheduled a new episode of the series for Friday, January 9 at 9:00/8:00c following the premieres of "Totally Outrageous Behavior" and "The World's Craziest Videos."
