By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

CHICAGO (thefutoncritic.com) -- UPN will continue to ride on the success of "America's Next Top Model" through the 2004-05 season, as the network announced today it has picked up the series for a third and fourth cycle.

Here's UPN's statement about the news (via press release):

UPN PICKS UP A THIRD AND FOURTH CYCLE OF HOT DRAMALITY SERIES "AMERICAS NEXT TOP MODEL" WITH TYRA BANKS

On the heels of Tuesday's record-breaking ratings, which placed UPN first at 9:00PM among women 18-34 and second among adults 18-34, UPN will hit the catwalk again picking up a third and fourth cycle of AMERICAS NEXT TOP MODEL, the hit dramality series featuring supermodel Tyra Banks.

AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL gives young women an opportunity to prove that they can make it in the high-stress, high-stakes world of supermodeling. The series follows participants of various backgrounds, shapes and sizes while they live together in a New York loft and compete in weekly tests as they vie for a modeling contract.

AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL has become a monumental success for UPN, delivering record-breaking ratings and triple-digit growth in key demos. AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL has ranked first in its time period each week during the current cycle among women 18-34, and the most recent episode (1/27/04) ranked second in its time period among UPN's target demographic of adults 18-34 (3.9/11) and persons 12-34 (4.0/11).

Delivering UPN's best ratings EVER in the Tuesday 9:00-10:00PM time period among women 18-34 (6.1/15) and women 18-49 (5.1/11), the most recent episode of AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL also ranked as the third highest rated telecast in UPN's history with women 18-34. AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL also scored UPN's second best time period performance ever among adults 18-34 (3.9/11), adults 18-49 (3.4/8) and total viewers (7.11 million).

Producers will soon begin a nationwide talent search for a diverse group of young of real women who will vie to become the next top model. Applications to enter the third cycle of the competition will be available soon exclusively at www.upn.com.

The executive producers are Ken Mok ("Making the Band") and Tyra Banks. AMERICAS NEXT TOP MODEL is produced by 10 by 10 Entertainment in association with Ty Ty Baby Productions. The dramality was created by Tyra Banks and developed by Mok and Kenya Barris.

In addition, UPN has issued a press release about the launch of its midseason comedy "Game Over":

ITS GAME ON FOR UPNS "GAME OVER," PRIME TIMES FIRST-EVER CGI-ANIMATED COMEDY TO MAKE ITS DEBUT, ON WEDNESDAY, MARCH 10 AT 8:00PM

"The Mullets" Returns To UPN Wednesdays at 8:30 PM And "Star Trek: Enterprise" Moves To 9:00 PM

GAME OVER Features the Voices of E.G. Daily, Rachel Dratch, Artie Lang, Lucy Liu and Patrick Warburton

UPNS new comedy GAME OVER, prime times first-ever CGI-animated series which follows the far-from-ordinary suburban Smashenburn family living in an alternate video-game universe comprised of off-beat characters, action heroes, monsters and cartoon characters inspired by popular video games, will debut on Wednesday, March 10 (8:00-8:30PM ET/PT) on UPN.

Immediately following GAME OVER, THE MULLETS returns to UPN on its new night, Wednesdays (8:30-9:00 PM ET/PT) and STAR TREK: ENTERPRISE will move to 9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT.

In UPN's new CGI-animated comedy GAME OVER, Rip Smashenburn (voiced by Patrick Warburton) is a racecar driver who rides daily in the Grand Prix and hopes to one day make it through a single race without blowing up. His beautiful wife, Raquel (voiced by Lucy Liu), juggles familial responsibilities with her career as a gun-toting, monster-fighting government agent. Their son, Billy (voiced by E.G. Daily), is a hip-hop loving, trend-obsessed 13-year-old who couldnt be more different than his older sister, Alice (voiced by Rachel Dratch), a 15-year-old trying to save the world one annoying way at a time. The family pet, Turbo (voiced by Artie Lange), is 300 pounds of everything a pet isnt. He knocks over pawn shops, busts open parking meters and robs the fighting Shaolin monks who live next door.

With a supporting cast of Anime love interests, zombies, first person shooters, elves, tomb raiders, soldiers and anything else that has ever appeared in a video game, GAME OVER is truly groundbreaking television that reaffirms UPNs commitment to delivering hip, edgy and unique programming to its young adult audience.

UPNs new series GAME OVER stars the voices of E.G. Daily ("Rugrats Go Wild!" "Chalk Zone") as Billy Smashenburn, Rachel Dratch ("Saturday Night Live") as Alice Smashenburn, Artie Lang ("The Howard Stern Show," "Elf") as Turbo, Lucy Liu ("Charlies Angels," "Ally McBeal") as Raquel Smashenburn and Patrick Warburton ("Seinfeld," "The Tick") as Rip Smashenburn.

GAME OVER is produced by Carsey-Werner-Mandabach, created by David Sacks ("The Simpsons," "The Tick") and developed by David Goetsch ("3rd Rock From the Sun"), David Sacks, Jason Venokur ("3rd Rock From The Sun") and Ross Venokur ("The Tick"). Executive producers are David Goetsch, David Sacks, Jason Venokur, Ross Venokur, Marcy Carsey, Tom Werner, Caryn Mandabach ("That 70s Show," "Grounded For Life," "Whoopi," "The Tracy Morgan Show"). John Rice ("King of The Hill") is supervising director.
