NBC Chases After 'The One That Got Away'
By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

CHICAGO (thefutoncritic.com) -- NBC will once again venture into the reality dating waters as the network announced today plans to debut its new two-hour special "The One That Got Away" on Monday, May 31 at 9:00/8:00c.

Here's how the Peacock describes the project, via press release:

NBC ANNOUNCES AIRDATE FOR NEW AND UNIQUE REALITY ROMANCE SPECIAL 'THE ONE THAT GOT AWAY'

First Reality Romance Special to Introduce All Candidates as well as Select the Winner All in the Same Episode - and the First to Reveal That All Seven Hopefuls Are Women From Our Eligible Bachelor's Past.

NBC will give first love a second chance with its new reality romance series "The One that Got Away," a new unscripted series that achieves a first in the genre by introducing all seven romantic candidates upfront and reveals the final selection in the same episode - with an extra kicker that all seven are women from our eligible bachelor's past. The reality romance series premieres Monday, May 31 (9-11 p.m. ET).

"This show takes all of the ingredients of great reality television -- the romance, the arguments, the tears and the gut wrenching decisions that change people's lives -- and plays it all out from beginning to end in one emotion packed two hour show" said executive producer Bob Kusbit. "There's no waiting for next week...or the next six weeks. You get it all in one night."

In the series premiere, "The One that Got Away" reunites bachelor Skipper Kress with seven women from his past - and offers him the opportunity to rekindle his romance while sharing a house in South Carolina. Through the course of the show, Kress will narrow down the group of "exes" to one. There's no predicting what will happen when separate chapters of Skip's love life all come together at the same time under the same roof.

"We found the bravest guy in the world who decided to open up his romantic past and take a shot at falling in love all over again," said executive producer Joe Livecchi. "Of course, along the way our bachelor must own up to his actions and say goodbye to six former loves forever. There's no way to prepare for what this guy had to face."

Kress, known locally as North Carolina's "most eligible bachelor," has a talent for wooing women -- while remaining on friendly terms -- as evidenced by their willingness to take another shot at romance.

"The One that Got Away" was created by Livecchi and executive produced by Livecchi and Kusbit for NBC Studios in association with One Louder Productions. Brian Smith directs.
