IFC to Keep Serving 'Dinner,' 'Fanatic'

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- IFC is sticking by its veteran talk show "Dinner for Five" and giving a second season to its freshman entry "Ultimate Film Fanatic."
Both moves were announced this week by the cable channel. "Dinner," hosted by Jon Favreau, will return with 13 new episodes in the first quarter 2005. Martin Scorsese is among the celebrities set to appear in the fourth season of the series (in a special edition taped at the Lake Placid Film Festival) which will also feature episodes focusing on the HBO series "Deadwood" (with actor Timothy Olyphant and creator David Milch) and the upcoming film "Friday Night Lights" (with actor Billy Bob Thornton and director Peter Berg).
As for "Fantatic," casting is underway in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Boston, Chicago and Austin, Texas for the show's second season, which will launch some time in 2005.
Meanwhile in other IFC-related news, the network has committed to a half-hour special based on the short-lived FOX series "Greg the Bunny." Co-stars Seth Green and Sarah Silverman are among the actors set to reprise their roles in the special, which will serve as a backdoor pilot to a potential new series. The news marks "Greg's" second appearance on the cable channel, as the "fabricated American" hosted a movie showcase on IFC back in 2001. The character itself originally appeared on a New York public access show in 1999. Adam Goldberg, Lou Ferrigno and Jon Favreau are among the guest stars for the new IFC special, which comes from "Greg" co-creators Sean Baker, Spencer Chinoy and Dan Milano.
