LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- PAX, the fledgling seventh broadcast network, has announced its fall premiere dates.
The network will kick off the 2004-05 season with the season premieres of "Doc" and "Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye" on Sunday, October 3 at 8:00/7:00c and 9:00/8:00c respectively.
Said premieres will spearhead the weeklong rollout of PAX's four new series. Here's a complete list of its freshman entries (descriptions taken from PAX's press materials):
AMERICA'S MOST TALENTED KIDS (Sunday, October 3 at 7:00/6:00c) - From the schoolyard to the stage come "America�s Most Talented Kids!� The one-hour musical variety show puts the spotlight on amazing child performers who compete for a chance at stardom. Bringing a unique element to the competition, these fresh, young contestants will be judged by people they can really relate to � today�s hottest child stars. From executive producer Stuart Krasnow ("Average Joe," "Weakest Link," and "Dog Eat Dog"), "America�s Most Talented Kids" promises viewers an uplifting experience as the performers and their parents learn that doing your best is a reward in and of itself.
COLD TURKEY (Sunday, October 3 at 10:00/9:00c) - Bamboozled into thinking they were going to join the cast of an outrageous reality show, ten unsuspecting chain smokers discover that the real task at hand is to quit smoking �cold turkey� while sequestered in a house for over three weeks. A series that is sure to have television viewers talking this fall, �Cold Turkey� reveals a new and positive side to reality, exploring the world of self-esteem and keeping one�s word.
MODEL CITIZENS (Monday, October 4 at 9:00/8:00c) - The American ideals of cooperation and community are brought to life in this spirited series where the models trade in their five-star hotels for no star motels and bring out the beauty in everyone they meet. Good-bye stilettos, hello construction boots � here comes the gorgeous model squad transplanted from the catwalks of Seventh Avenue to the crosswalks of Main Street USA! Larissa Meek ("Average Joe Hawaii"), model and former Miss Missouri USA, hosts this weekly one-hour series that follows five top models who are charged with making America beautiful. Whether restoring a forgotten park or repainting a dangerous crosswalk, our team of "Model Citizens" will have to break a sweat while using their creativity and charm to achieve a lasting solution to a real problem in just five days.
SECOND VERDICT (Tuesday, October 5 at 9:00/8:00c) - You can be tried for the same crime twice-on PAX TV�s �Second Verdict,� the next generation of court shows. Audiences will be taken through the compelling facts of real-life trials in broadcast television�s first primetime courtroom reality series, where a mock jury decides if justice was served. In �Second Verdict,� real felony cases from compelling trials that permit cameras in the courtroom are presented to a panel. An outspoken jury foreperson plays devils advocate as they deliberate in the show�s own jury room. Unaware of the actual jury�s verdict, the mock jury votes, and the show�s hard-nosed, legal expert will reveal the actual verdict while giving new insight on whether justice was served. Was it a case of mistaken identity or did the time fit the crime?
WORLD CUP COMEDY (Wednesday, October 6 at 9:00/8:00c) - What do you get when you combine the unpredictable world of improv with the magic of traditional American television? An hour full of comedy the whole family can enjoy! Produced by America�s favorite funny man Kelsey Grammer ("Frasier"), "World Cup Comedy" brings the hysterical frenzy of improvisational comedic competitions together with the "smoke and mirror" effects of today�s television.
