ACADEMY AWARD NOMINEE AND GOLDEN GLOBE AWARD WINNER
MELANIE GRIFFITH AND ESAI MORALES STAR IN "HEARTLESS,"
A NEW TELEVISION MOVIE THAT HAS BEGUN PRODUCTION
IN NEW ORLEANS, TO BE BROADCAST ON THE CBS TELEVISION NETWORK
HEARTLESS, a new television movie starring Academy Award nominee and Golden Globe Award winner Melanie Griffith ("Chicago" "Working Girl") and Esai Morales ("NYPD Blue"), has started production in New Orleans, for broadcast on the CBS Television Network. The story, inspired by actual events, is about a smart and sexy attorney who seduces and manipulates the men in her life until they will do anything for her -- even commit murder.
Miranda Wells (Griffith) is an attractive, successful attorney whose clients include illegal immigrants for whom she promises to obtain green cards that they ultimately never receive. A skilled lawyer, Miranda has evaded being disbarred several times due to a combination of lack of evidence and luck. She is as ruthless in her personal life as she is in her professional one and uses sex as a means of enticing men to do her bidding. But when a man tries to leave her or stands in her way, she is quick to retaliate.
David Lopez (Morales) is an ambitious newspaper reporter who goes undercover posing as an illegal immigrant to work in Miranda's office. Even though he has been warned that Miranda is dangerous and could be guilty of more than simply defrauding immigrants, David hopes that his close proximity to her will allow him to find proof of her illegal activities. However, like all men who come into contact with her, David is bewitched by Miranda and unable to resist her.
Torn between his attraction to Miranda and his purpose, David begins to lose his perspective on the story he is covering, which may put both his investigation and his life at risk.
HEARTLESS is being produced by Grossbart Kent Productions. Jack Grossbart and Linda Kent ("Any Mother's Son," "Personally Yours") are the executive producers. Joan Barnett ("Unforgivable") is the producer. Robert Markowitz ("The Pilot's Wife") is directing from a script by Adam Greenman ("Final Jeopardy").
