THE COMBINED NETWORKS OF NBC UNIVERSAL TELEVISION SCORE BIG AT PRODUCERS GUILD AWARD NOMINATIONS
NBC Picks up Five Nominations, Bravo Grabs Two to Collectively Amass More Than Any Other Broadcast or Cable Group
BURBANK, Calif. -- January 5, 2005 -- The NBC Universal Television Group produced a coup at the Producers Guild or America Awards nominations this morning when NBC picked up five nods for scripted drama and comedy, latenight variety and non-fiction and cable channel Bravo grabbed two nominations in the non-fiction arena. The combined tally amounts to more nominations than any other broadcast network or cable television group.
Leading the NBC Universal pack is four-time PGA winner "The West Wing," which was again nominated for the Norman Felton Producer of the Year Award in the episodic drama category. "The West Wing" previously won this award in 2001 and 2002. It was also honored by the PGA for a Nova Award and a Vision Award.
In the episodic comedy category, "Will & Grace" and "Scrubs" have been nominated for the Danny Thomas Producer of the Year Award. "Will & Grace" has been nominated for the past four years and "Scrubs" was a nominee last year.
In the non-fiction television category, last year's nominee, Bravo's "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy," has again been nominated along with a Bravo first-timer, "Inside the Actors Studio," and NBC's "The Apprentice."
In the variety television category, "Saturday Night Live" picked up its first nomination.
The 16th Annual PGA Awards will be presented Saturday, January 22 at the Culver Studios in Culver City, Calif.
