Starz Entertainment Group Orders More 'Bunny Biz'
Commissions 10 More Animated 'Bunny' Movie Parody Shorts
Renews Agreement With Angry Alien Productions
UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif., Jan. 14 (TCA Tour) -- Those crazy,
infamous, animated bunnies featured in original movie parodies on the Internet
and more recently on STARZ!, will continue to have a starring role as Starz
Entertainment Group LLC (SEG) announced today the renewal of their agreement
with Angry Alien Productions. The renewed agreement commissions ten more
30-second shorts from animator Jennifer Shiman, the creator of Angryalien.com
for exhibition not only on STARZ!, but also Starz on Demand(R) and STARZ!
Ticket(SM) on Real Movies.
The spots feature talking animated bunnies spoofing famous Hollywood films
in 30 seconds. SEG first commissioned three world premiere "bunny shorts"
from Shiman for its STARZ! Hare Raising Halloween Marathon last October.
"The response from our viewers to these bunny shorts has been amazing,"
said Che Che Mata, senior vice president, creative services, SEG. "Jennifer's
creative insight has not only grabbed the attention of her Web fans, but has
captured the viewing pleasure of our family of subscribers."
"The bunnies and I are thrilled to team up again with Starz Entertainment
Group," said Jennifer Shiman, Angry Alien Productions. "We look forward to
paying tribute to some excellent movies with our bunnified versions."
"The bunny shorts are perfect for STARZ! Ticket(SM)," said Peter Roberts,
senior director of advanced services, SEG. "The unique parodies appeal to our
audience and provide us with an excellent opportunity to bring awareness to
the great movies on STARZ! Ticket(SM) on Real Movies."
A recent article in Variety said Shiman's "Jaws in 30 Seconds" "has become
an industry calling card."
The first spot under the renewed agreement will parody the classic
"midnight movie," "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Additional spots will
spoof "Pulp Fiction," "Highlander," "The Big Chill," "The Karate Kid," "Thelma
& Louise," "The Good the Bad and the Ugly," "Night of the Living Dead" and
"Weird Science." All of the spots will debut on STARZ!, Starz on Demand(R)
and STARZ! Ticket(SM) on Real Movies. Previous bunny spots for SEG have
included "Freddy vs. Jason," "Scream" and "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre."
Shiman's Angryalien.com Website boasts over 25,000 visitors per day.
Since she created her first bunny short, last February her collection now
includes 30 second parodies about "Jaws," "Alien," "The Shining" and "The
Exorcist." You can view them at http://www.angryalien.com.
