Brian Morewitz Named Vice President, Drama Development, ABC Television Network

BRIAN MOREWITZ NAMED VICE PRESIDENT, DRAMA DEVELOPMENT, ABC TELEVISION NETWORK

Brian Morewitz has joined the ABC Television Network as vice president, Drama Development, ABC Entertainment, it was announced today by Suzanne Patmore-Gibbs, senior vice president, Drama Development, to whom he reports.

In this capacity Mr. Morewitz is responsible for bringing in and developing new drama series for the network.

"Brian's relationships with both feature writers and producers, along with his commercial instincts, make him a great addition to this department," Ms. Patmore-Gibbs said in making the announcement. "We're thrilled to have him as part of the team."

Mr. Morewitz comes to ABC after a dozen years in feature films. Most recently he was senior vice president at the Sony-based production-financing entity, Escape Artists, where he worked with principals Steve Tisch, Todd Black and Jason Blumenthal. He oversaw development and was attached to co-produce "Knowing," a thriller co-written and to be directed by Richard Kelly ("Donnie Darko"); "The Bermuda Triangle," written by Chris Morgan, and "Harvard Heist," written by Stephen Susko ("The Grudge"). Prior to that he ran Black and Blu Entertainment, where he worked on the remake of "Cactus Flower" with Kari Lizer ("Will & Grace").

Mr. Morewitz previously ran Lucas Foster's company, also based at Sony, and while there initiated development of John August's big-budget remake of "Fantasy Island" and developed "The Mission" with writer Tom Wheeler ("Empire").

He has also worked in development at Woods Entertainment, and began his career at age 19 as a summer intern-later hired on as a story editor-at New Line Cinema, where he worked under Mike De Luca.

Mr. Morewitz attended James Madison University in Virginia. He is married and resides in the Los Angeles area.
