NBC SCREENS NEW DRAMA "REVELATIONS" IN AN EXCLUSIVE LIVE CLOSED-CIRCUIT SNEAK PREVIEW SATELLITE PRESENTATION
TO COLLEGE AUDIENCES IN NINE MARKETS ON MARCH 15, 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT
MSNBC Anchorman Lester Holt to Host Pilot Screening and Q&A Actor Bill Pullman and other cast members to participate
BURBANK, Calif. -- March 14, 2005 -- As part of the marketing campaign to launch the limited series "Revelations," NBC is presenting a very special, one-time only exclusive preview at 30 Rockefeller Plaza, Studio 6A in Manhattan, New York, on Tuesday, March 15, 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. The event, hosted by MSNBC anchorman, Lester Holt, targeting mainly a college student audience, will consist of a closed-circuit "sneak preview" pilot screening & a Q&A with "Revelations" cast members Bill Pullman ("Independence Day"), Natascha McElhone ("Solaris"), and Michael Massee ("24"), executive producer Gavin Polone ("Panic Room"), and writer and executive producer David Seltzer (author of "The Omen"). In addition, the New York screening will be broadcast live via satellite to theatres in an additional nine local markets across the country.
For the screenings in New York and in the additional nine markets, NBC, in an effort to match the intelligence, intensity and drama of "Revelations," has implemented a grassroots outreach campaign inviting students attending major universities and colleges who are studying philosophy, political science, religion, film and television. The screenings will also be open to the general public. The additional nine markets include Seattle, WA; Washington, DC; Philadelphia, PA; Baton Rouge, LA; Berkeley, CA; San Diego, CA; Knoxville, TN; Atlanta, GA and Columbus, OH. NBC Studios will use multiple-cameras to cover the New York event, which will give an estimated 3,000 people the unique opportunity to ask questions of the cast, the writer and the producers of the series.
"Revelations is an extremely thought-provoking, intelligent, and well-produced show that has a feature film-like quality," said John Miller, Chief Marketing Officer, NBC Universal Television Group. "We wanted to design a marketing effort in support of the series, which would reflect the quality and substance of the program itself."
"Due to the popularity of such books as 'The Da Vinci Code' and the box office success of such movies as 'The Passion of the Christ,' there's no denying the general public's interest in the supernatural and the spiritual realms," added Vince Manze, president and creative director, The NBC Agency. "For the screening and Q&A, we felt it would be especially exciting to invite students studying religion, philosophy, political science and other related fields, to promote a lively and informative Q&A to discuss some of the important issues the show tackles, as well as how television treats such complex topics."
In "Revelations" which premieres April 13 (9 p.m. ET/PT), Bill Pullman ("Independence Day"), stars as a scientist faced with the toughest personal, professional and philosophical challenges of his life. Dr. Richard Massey is searching for reasonable explanations -- to explain signs that seem to indicate the apocalyptic end as foretold in Scriptures is in motion. To save humanity, Massey will have to let go of scientific facts and embrace faith. His first step in his quest to conquer the impending evil is to align himself with a nun (Natascha McElhone, "Solaris") whose devout beliefs are unshakable. Despite many obstacles, including their own fears and doubts, the two remain determined to prove that Man can regain control of fate. Time is literally running out in their thrilling, fast-paced race around the globe to thwart Armageddon -- and restore hope. Michael Massee ("Catwoman," "24") also stars as demented Satanist Isaiah Haden; newcomers Chelsey and Brittney Coyle share the role of Olivia, the girl found in a coma spouting Scripture and Tobin Bell ('Saw") stars as the mysterious lawyer, Nathan Volk, who has a sinister interest in Olivia. "Revelations" is executive produced by Gavin Polone ("Panic Room") and written, created and executive produced by David Seltzer ("The Omen"). "Revelations" is a production of Pariah.
