MARLEE MATLIN GUEST STARS ON NBC'S SVU
MARLEE MATLIN REPRISES HER EMMY NOMINATED ROLE AS DR. AMY SOLWEY ON NBC'S 'L&O: SVU' TUESDAY, MAY 17, 10 PM ET.
NBC Presents A Special Tuesday Night Line Up Featuring Matlin in Back-To-Back Episodes of "Law & Order: SVU"
NEW YORK -- May 10, 2005 -- Academy Award and Golden Globe winner, and Emmy- nominated Marlee Matlin ("Children of a Lesser God") returns on NBC's "Law & Order: Special Victim's Unit," as Dr. Amy Solwey, to help detectives solve a case. NBC will rebroadcast Matlin's Emmy-nominated episode at 9 p.m. ET, followed by an all new episode (Tuesday, May 17, 10-11 p.m. ET).
"I loved the challenge of reprising my Emmy-nominated role of Amy Solwey on "SVU," said matlin. "When I had heard that the producers had never brought back a perp to reprise a role, I was very honored. Amy is such a complex and troubled character and one I could easily see return. She was a big challenge for me. It was also great to return and explore the character more deeply with the other actors on the show. I had heard that Belzer, for so many years, was known as a comedian, but he was unbelievable with drama. It just goes to show you that some of the best actors are often times comedians."
In this episode, when a woman's body is found dismembered in a junkyard, Detectives Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Stabler (Chris Meloni) investigate and the evidence leads them to the victim's boyfriend, Leon Shragewitz (guest-star Glenn Kessler). Shragewitz confesses to the murder, by pushing her down a flight of stairs and leaving her to die. A twist in the case leads Benson and Stabler to find that a kidney was then extracted from the victim's body by a man trying to save his sick son, leaving the rest of her remains in the junkyard. Detectives Besnon and Stabler turn to Amy Solwey (guest-star Matlin) to help them solve the case by leading them to the transplant surgeon who is at the center
an illegal body part ring. Ice-T, Diane Neal, Richard Belzer, Tamara Tunie, and Dann Florek also star.
The hard-hitting and emotional companion series from NBC's "Law & Order" franchise chronicles the life and crimes of the elite Special Victims Unit of the New York Police Department. "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" was created by Emmy Award-winning producer Dick Wolf. "SVU" celebrated its 100th episode in November, 2003 and is now in it's sixth season. "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" is a Wolf Films production in association with NBC Universal Television Studio. Dick Wolf is creator and executive producer; Ted Kotcheff ("Fun with Dick and Jane," "Weekend at Bernie's"), Neal Baer (NBC's "ER," "China Beach") and Peter Jankowski are executive producers.
