2005 MTV Movie Awards to Air June 9 at 8:30 PM (ET/PT)
May 18, 2005, New York, NY -- MTV: Music Television today announced that Mariah Carey has joined Eminem and Nine Inch Nails to complete the line-up of performers for 2005 MTV MOVIE AWARDS. In addition, Tom Cruise, The Rock, Iaon Gruffard, Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Chiklis, Rob Schneider, and Julian McMahon have joined the star studded list of presenters. Previously announced presenters include Hilary Swank, Vin Diesel, Jessica Simpson, Johnny Knoxville, Jessica Alba, Hilary Duff, Zach Braff, Sean William Scott, Rob Schneider, Lindsay Lohan, Ziyi Zhang, Paul Walker, Jessica Biel, Billy Bob Thornton, Salma Hayek, and Katie Holmes. Hosted by Jimmy Fallon, the fourteenth annual awards show will air on June 9th at 8:30PM (ET/PT). The ceremony will tape on June 4th at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, CA. More presenters, special guest appearances and award tributes will be announced shortly.
Performer and songwriter Mariah Carey exploded back onto the U.S. charts with her brand new Island Def Jam album, THE EMANCIPATION OF MIMI, and achieved the greatest first week sales of her career - at 403,755 units - earning a #1 debut on the Billboard 200 albums chart. The nominees for the 2005 MTV MOVIE AWARDS are chosen through a national poll of MTV and MTV2 viewers. The winners will be determined by MTV and MTV2 viewers, and only Virgin Mobile USA customers can cast their vote wirelessly through "*MTV" found under "VirginXtras" or �VirginXL� for 3G-enabled phones.
