IM A CELEBRITY BUT I WANT TO BE A POP STAR

NBC TAPS STARS FROM FEATURE FILMS, TELEVISION AND SPORTS TO INDULGE THEIR POP-STAR FANTASIES ON NEW TALENT COMPETITION SERIES, 'I'M A CELEBRITY BUT I WANT TO BE A POP STAR'

BURBANK June 20, 2005 NBC will unveil "I'm a Celebrity But I Want to Be a Pop Star," a raucous new unscripted talent competition series that will welcome stars from the worlds of feature film, television and sports to live out their dreams of becoming rock gods by performing in front of an audience who will determine their fates.

The announcement was made by Craig Plestis, Senior Vice President, Alternative Programming & Development.

"Everyone secretly wants to get on stage and become a pop star and celebrities are no different," said Plestis. "This new series will allow viewers to see who's really entitled to live out that dream. We are thrilled to partner with Granada America on another exciting alternative series."

"I'm so pleased that these big music extravaganza shows, which have long been a staple in the UK market, are now being embraced in America. It's gratifying to extend our relationship with NBC which has already resulted in the success of 'Hit Me Baby One More Time,'" said Paul Jackson, CEO, Granada America.

More details about the series and the celebrity participants will be revealed later.

"I'm a Celebrity But I Want to Be a Pop Star" will be produced by Granada America. The executive producers are Paul Jackson ("Nanny 911," "Hell's Kitchen") and Curt Northrup ("Celebrity Fit Club," "America Princess").
