AMY HARTWICK JOINS ABC AS VICE PRESIDENT, COMEDY DEVELOPMENT
Amy Hartwick has joined ABC Entertainment as vice president, Comedy Development, it was announced today by Stephanie Leifer, senior vice president, Comedy Development, to whom she reports.
Prior to joining ABC, Ms. Hartwick was director of comedy at 20th Century Fox Television, where she most recently was part of the team that developed �My Name is Earl� with Greg Garcia (�Yes, Dear,� �Family Guy�) and starring Jason Lee. At the time of her departure from 20th, she was also working on projects for Molly Shannon (Holly Hester), Scott Foley (Mark Hudis) and Melissa Etheridge (Linda Wallem) for midseason.
She also was instrumental in the packaging and development ABC�s �Jake in Progress� (Austin Winsberg), starring John Stamos, and helped develop TCFTV�s first reality shows, �The Simple Life� and �Simple Life 2: Road Trip� with Bunim-Murray (�Real World�).
�In filling this position, we wanted to make sure we brought in an executive with both great relationships and a real passion for comedy,� Ms. Leifer said in making the announcement. �After working across the table from Amy for a while, we knew what a great addition she would be to the team. We�re excited to have her at ABC.�
Ms. Hartwick joined 20th Century Fox as a manager of comedy in 2001. At TCFTV, she worked on current series such as �Yes, Dear,� �Andy Richter Controls the Universe,� �King of the Hill� and �Bernie Mac,� and helped develop �Still Standing� with Joey Gutierrez & Diane Burrows (�The Drew Carey Show,� �Yes, Dear�), �Cedric the Entertainer Presents� and �The Pitts,� with Mike & Julie Scully (�The Simpsons�), among others.
Less than a year after she joined TCFTV, Ms. Hartwick was promoted to director of Comedy.
Ms. Hartwick began her entertainment career in the television department at New Line Cinema. After a year, she left New Line to work as a development associate for Bonnie Raskin Productions at NBC Studios. In 1999 she was accepted into NBC�s prestigious Associate�s Program. Ms. Hartwick worked as an executive in both the M.O.W. division and for NBC Studios. While at NBC Studios, she worked on shows such as �Crossing Jordan,� �Three Sisters� and �Go Fish.� She also worked on pilots by Steve Koren (�Seinfeld,� �SNL�) and Jenny Bicks (�Sex & the City�).
Ms. Hartwick is a native of Los Angeles, California. She received her bachelor�s degree from the University of Arizona and completed graduate studies in social work at UCLA. She lives in El Segundo with her husband, Jeff, and infant twins Connor & Sophie.
