SANTA MONICA, Calif., July 21 -- Best known for the playing
the role of the burly chief engineer of the Starship Enterprise in the
original "Star Trek" TV series, Jim Doohan passed away Wednesday at the age of
85. To honor him, GSN will re-broadcast four appearances Doohan made in 1987
on the classic game show series SUPER PASSWORD. Doohan's four SUPER PASSWORD
performances will air Monday, July 25 through Thursday, July 28 from 2:00 to
2:30 PM ET/PT on GSN.
SUPER PASSWORD is part of GSN's new classic daytime lineup. The series,
hosted by Bert Convy, originally was part of NBC's daytime staple from 1984 to
1989. Doohan's episodes include "Star Trek: The Next Generation" actor
Michael Dorn ("Worf") as the other celebrity guest.
An accomplished TV and film actor, Doohan responded to the command on the
series "Beam me up, Scotty." It's been reported that Doohan never tired of
hearing that line from his fans through his years.
