THE WB PRESENTS A FOUR-HOUR EVENT, �THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE TWO TOWERS,� THE SECOND BLOCKBUSTER FILM OF THE TRILOGY, ON SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 7:00-11:00 PM ET

Burbank, CA July 22, 2005

The WB Network will present audiences with alternative programming to the Emmy Awards with a four-hour event built around the second film in the blockbuster �Lord of the Rings� trilogy, THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE TWO TOWERS, on Sunday, September 18 (7:00-11:00 p.m. ET), it was announced today by David Janollari, The WB's President, Entertainment, at the Summer 2005 Television Critics' Association Press Tour.

Based on the book by J.R.R. Tolkien and directed by Peter Jackson, THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE TWO TOWERS was honored with two Academy Awards � for Best Sound Editing and Best Visual Effects. Chicago Sun-Times' film critic Roger Ebert called the movie �one of the most spectacular swashbucklers ever made.�

In the film, the Fellowship of the Ring has been broken. Frodo Baggins (Elijah Wood) and Samwise Gamgee (Sean Astin) have gone to Mordor alone to destroy the One Ring, Merry (Dominic Monaghan) and Pippin (Billy Boyd) have been captured by the Uruk-hai, and Aragorn (Viggo Mortensen), Legolas (Orlando Bloom) and Gimli (John Rhys-Davies) have made friends with the Rohan, a race of humans that are in the path of the upcoming war. The corrupt wizard Saruman (Christopher Lee), under the power of the Dark Lord Sauron, and his slimy assistant, Gr�ma Wormtongue (Brad Dourif), have created a terrifying Uruk-hai army bent on the destruction of Man and Middle-earth. The rebellion against Sauron is building up and will be led by Gandalf the White (Sir Ian McKellen). The creature Gollum (Andy Serkis) has tracked Frodo and Sam down in search of his �precious,� but is captured by the Hobbits and forced to lead them to Mount Doom. The War of the Ring has now begun.
