"FRIDAY NIGHT SMACKDOWN!" TO HAVE A ONE-HOUR PREMIERE ON FRIDAY, SEPT. 9, FROM 9-10PM ON UPN
Change Made to Accommodate the Six Network Special
to Raise Funds for Hurricane Katrina Victims
The WWE's FRIDAY NIGHT SMACKDOWN! will have a special one-hour premiere on its new night, Friday, Sept. 9 (9:00-10:00PM, ET/PT), in order to accommodate the one-hour special benefiting the victims of Hurricane Katrina, which all six networks announced that they will simulcast on Friday, Sept. 9 (8:00-9:00PM, ET/PT).
A special first hour of FRIDAY NIGHT SMACKDOWN will start at 8:00PM ET/PT, exclusively on the web at WWE.com.
This Friday�s debut of FRIDAY NIGHT SMACKDOWN will feature four amazing matches. In a SummerSlam rematch, World Heavyweight Champion Batista will defend against former WWE Champion JBL in a Bull Rope Match. Road Warrior Animal and Heidenreich will put the WWE Tag Team Championship on the line against MNM, the team they won the titles from in July 2005. The emotional Eddie Guerrero-Rey Mysterio saga will continue when the two rivals square off in one-on-one action in a Steel Cage Match. United States Champion Chris Benoit will defend his championship against the man he beat to get it � Orlando Jordan.
The following week, Friday, Sept. 16, FRIDAY NIGHT SMACKDOWN will have its full two-hour time-period premiere from 8:00-10:00PM, ET/PT.
