NEW YORK, September 19, 2005 -- COMEDY CENTRAL earned two more Emmys in the 2004-2005 Primetime Emmy Awards competition, both for its hit show "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart," it was announced last night by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

"The Daily Show with Jon Stewart," the network's unique news parody series, was honored for the third time with the Emmy Award for Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Series. The show's second Emmy of the night went to the writing team. This marks the fourth year that the writing team for the Peabody Award-winning "Daily Show" was awarded the Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Program.

The wins give "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" a total of seven Primetime Emmys and 15 nominations over its six years.

The Emmy Awards were presented during two ceremonies. The first, primarily for creative arts categories, took place on Sunday, September 11 with COMEDY CENTRAL's animated hit show "South Park" winning the Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program (less than an hour). The balance of the Emmys, primarily for the performing arts, were announced before a black-tie audience during a primetime telecast (CBS) on Sunday, September 18. Both ceremonies took place at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, CA.
