Weekend
ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J. -- October 31, 2005 -- This November, Universal HD continues to bring high-quality programming to the table with an 18-hour Complete Savages Thanksgiving marathon, a David Lynch double feature and Disaster Saturday featuring episodes of Medical Investigation, along with more action from the Dew Action Sports Tour and the National Dog Show hosted by the Kennel Club of Philadelphia.
On November 5 at 10:00pm/ET, Universal HD presents its David Lynch Double Feature with two films from the critically acclaimed director. Lynch earned his third Best Director Academy Award(r) nomination for the eerie Mulholland Drive, which stars Naomi Watts as a naive young actress whose encounter with a lost amnesiac in LA, kicks off a surreal and bizarre journey of illusion, dreams, and swapped identity. Next up is Dune, Lynch's film adaptation of Frank Herbert's classic science-fiction novel featuring eye-popping special effects and sets, as well as additional footage that greatly expands upon the themes and plot of the original release.
Spend Thanksgiving with the Savages during an 18-hour marathon of Complete Savages on Thursday, November 24 starting at 8:00am/ET. The show, chronicling the amusing and chaotic trials and tribulations of a father single-handedly raising five teenage boys, comes from Emmy-winning writers/executive producers Julie Thacker-Scully, Mike Scully and Academy Award(r)-winning director and producer Mel Gibson.
On Friday, November 25 at 8:00pm/ET and 10:00pm/ET, the Kennel Club of Philadelphia hosts the National Dog Show Presented by Purina, one of the oldest and most prestigious sporting events in North America.
Saturday, November 26 is "Disaster Saturday" on Universal HD. The mayhem begins at 2:00pm with a marathon of the most thrilling Medical Investigation episodes, along with suspense film Airport '77, about a failed skyjacking attempt that leaves a luxury jetliner trapped below the waves in the Bermuda Triangle. The movie stars Academy Award(r) winner Jack Lemmon, Christopher Lee, and Joseph Cotton.
Universal HD rounds out the month with encore presentations of Notre Dame home football games Sunday mornings at 9:00am/ET. Opponents include Tennessee (Nov. 16), Navy (Nov.13) and Syracuse (Nov. 20). Extreme sports fans will be able to recapture all five stops on The 2005 Dew Action Sports Tour during Universal HD's Dew Action Sports Weekend on November 26-27. The competitions include the Panasonic Open, Right Guard Open, Vans Invitational, Toyota Challenge, & Playstation Pro, all presented in exhilarating HD. Additionally, the Dew Action Sports Tour can still be found every Friday night during Universal HD's Friday SportsNight block.
