The WB Gives 'Related,' 'Twins' Six, Five Additional Episodes
By Brian Ford Sullivan (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The WB newcomers "Related" and "Twins" got some good news yesterday as the former received an order for six additional episodes while the latter got the thumbs up for five additional installments.

While short of the industry "full season" standard of 22 episodes, the extensions nevertheless mark a show of support for the struggling pair.

"Twins" has averaged a modest 2.64 million viewers through eight airings, ahead of only former lead-in "What I Like About You" (2.29 million) among all WB series so far this season. Likewise, "Related" has averaged just 2.57 million viewers through five first-run airings, behind the previously-axed "Just Legal" (3.11 million).

Nevertheless, both shows have drawn solid numbers in several key demographics as of late. "Twins's" October 28 airing saw the network's best numbers in the Friday, 9:30/8:30c half hour this season among adults 18-34, adults 18-49 and persons 12-34 while "Related's" October 31 broadcast (its first original airing in the Monday, 9:00/8:00c slot) drew network season highs among adults 18-34, persons 12-34, adults 18-49, women 18-34, women 12-34 and women 18-49.

Overall, the WB has committed to 19 hours of "Related" and 18 half-hours of "Twins."

"Related" is a co-production of Warner Bros. Television and Class IV Productions with Marta Kauffman, Steve Pearlman, Andrew Plotkin, Mimi Leder and Liz Tuccillo all serving as executive producers. "Twins," from KoMut Entertainment in association with Warner Bros. Television, is executive produced by creators David Kohan and Max Mutchnick.
