For the first time ever in a sports broadcast, CBS will kick off a stunt promotion -- devoting all of its on-air promotion during this weekend's Army/Navy game to the new midseason military drama THE UNIT. The series, which will premiere early next year, chronicles the lives of an elite military forces unit and their families.
"We've found the perfect venue to promote this highly anticipated new military drama by featuring all of the CBS promotional spots of THE UNIT during the Army/Navy game," commented George Schweitzer, President of the CBS Marketing Group. "The Army/Navy game attracts millions of servicemen and their families as well as veterans, and this is a great way to reach our target audience in advance of the series launch."
The eleven on-air promos, which vary in length from10, 30 and 60 seconds, will offer a variety of previews from the new drama series.
THE UNIT stars Dennis Haysbert, Scott Foley, Robert Patrick, Regina Taylor, Max Martini, Michael Irby, Demore Barnes, Abby Brammell and Audrey Marie Anderson in an action drama that follows a covert team of Special Forces operatives as they risk their lives on undercover missions around the world, while their families maintain the home front, protecting their husband's secrets.
THE UNIT is produced by Twentieth Century Fox Television. David Mamet and Shawn Ryan are executive producers.
