PASADENA, Calif., Jan. 13 -- Leading female poker player
Annie Duke is starring in GSN's ANNIE DUKE TAKES ON THE WORLD, a hybrid poker
show allowing amateur poker players to play against a world class
professional. The announcement was made today at the Television Critics
Association Winter Press Tour by Ian Valentine, Senior Vice President of
Programming, GSN.
ANNIE DUKE TAKES ON THE WORLD will feature Duke as host and Regan Burns
("Oblivious," "Titus") as co-host, both taunting and giving inside tips on how
to play No Limit Texas Hold 'Em with the best. Four amateur poker players
will compete for the chance to play Texas Hold 'Em one-on-one against Duke.
The show will air on Monday, May 1 from 9-10 PM, ET/PT.
In the preliminary round, three amateurs will compete for the right to go
head-to-head with Duke, while she comments on and critiques the play. The
last player remaining at the table will play heads up poker with Duke in a
high stakes game of bluff, wit and cards.
Duke is most renowned for winning $2 million in the 2004 No-Limit Texas
Hold 'Em invitation-only WSOP Tournament of Champions, and is sought after for
her vast poker skills and knowledge, coaching the likes of Ben Affleck and
Matt Damon on their poker game.
Executive producers are Andrew Golder ("Win Ben Stein's Money," "Celebrity
Blackjack"), Joe Reitman and Duke.
