KATHLEEN TURNER GUEST STARS ON NBC'S 'LAW & ORDER,' FEB. 8 AT 10 P.M. ET/PT

GOLDEN GLOBE WINNER AND ACADEMY AWARD NOMINEE KATHLEEN TURNER GUEST STARS ON NBC'S 'LAW & ORDER' AS HIGH-POWER ATTORNEY WITH A DESIGNER DEFENSE, FEB. 8 AT 10 P.M. ET/PT

NEW YORK February 6, 2006 Golden Globe winner and Academy Award nominee Kathleen Turner ("Romancing the Stone," "Body Heat") guest stars on NBC's "Law & Order" (Wed., Feb. 8 at 10 p.m. ET/PT). The veteran actress will reunite with her "Serial Mom" (1994) co-star Sam Waterston when she plays high-powered defense attorney Rebecca Shane, representing a privileged student accused of murder. In the episode titled "Magnet," Shane faces off against A.D.A. Jack McCoy pitting a showy designer defense against old-fashioned legal maneuvering, generating sparks in and potentially out of the courtroom.

When Detectives Fontana (Dennis Farina) and Green (Jesse L. Martin) investigate the strangling of a promising Hispanic student at a private magnet school, the men soon learn the victim was selling test answers and writing term papers for more advantaged students including their prime suspect, Greg Loomis (guest star Jaime McAdams), a trouble-prone senior who would kill just to graduate. After Loomis' arrest, his well-to-do parents hire the best defense money can buy, attorney Shane (Turner), who helps build a designer defense arguing the boy was himself a victim of medication side effects and his parents' high expectations. A.D.A. McCoy (Waterston) spurns any deal made while building a case based on prior incidents involving the accused.

The episode also features S. Epatha Merkerson, Fred Dalton Thompson and Annie Parisse.

"Law & Order" is produced by Wolf Films in association with NBC Universal Television Studio.
