BRAVO ANNOUNCES THE PREMIERE OF "OUTRAGEOUS AND CONTAGIOUS: VIRAL VIDEOS," AN EXPLORATION OF THE MOST DARING AND HILARIOUS INTERNET VIDEO CLIPS TODAY
BRAVO WILL PREMIERE SIX HALF-HOUR EPISODES BEGINNING MONDAY, FEBRUARY 20 AT 10:00 PM ET/PT
NEW YORK -- February 14, 2006 -- Americans have caught the "Viral video" bug. Who hasn't passed on an email link to friends and co-workers of videos featuring college students singing along to the Backstreet Boys, or maybe the President fumbling his words during an important speech? These clips are an increasingly addictive form of entertainment, and for the first time, Bravo compiles these vignettes for an in-depth look into the cyber craze infiltrating inboxes throughout the world. The first half-hour episode of Bravo's six episode series "Outrageous and Contagious: Viral Videos" will premiere on Bravo, Monday, February 20 at 10:00 PM ET/PT. Following weeks, each half-hour episode will air at 10:00 PM
The "Viral Video" episodes will feature the most popular video clips, astonishing talents and political statements that can be found on the Internet today. The videos are truly contagious, with millions of people downloading the clips online to share with family and friends. "Viral Videos" are the next generation of entertainment content and have only been available through the web until now.
Featured in the first two episodes of the original series will be, George W. Bush's inability to make a quick exit out of a Beijing press conference, a hilarious interpretation of, "Brokeback Mountain" and Saturday Night Live's hip-hop tribute to, "The Chronicles of Narnia."
"This series is a distillation of worldwide pop culture, seen through the funniest, smartest, most curious clips we're all circulating right now. The web provides a perfect creative outlet for individual performance, whether that's lip synching or dancing, reenacting your favorite movie scene, playing extreme quarters or editing political satires, acts previously reserved for the privacy of the bedroom. We've apparently never been so busy and yet some of us have time to do this stuff, tape it and most of us have time to watch it and send it on," said Frances Berwick, Senior Vice President, Programming and Production, Bravo.
