Last summer's smash hit, SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE, will begin another search for the ultimate dancer beginning Thursday, March 2, in New York City. The best undiscovered dancing talent the U.S. has to offer will endure a grueling 12-week competition to become America's No. 1 dancer. If you think the AMERICAN IDOL competition is tough, you haven't seen anything yet! Some contestants will collapse under the pressure, others will reveal their two left feet and one will dance his or her way into America's heart. The series, produced by 19 Entertainment Ltd. and dick clark productions, will have its second season premiere Thursday, May 25 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.
The first season of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE finished Summer 2005 ranked as the No. 1 program in its time period among Adults 18-49, Total Viewers, Adults 18-34 and Teens. Season one winner Nick Lazzarini and runner-up Melody Lacayanga are currently part of Mark Meismer's professional dance company, Evolution, which is the first of its kind on the West Coast.
With Lauren Sanchez expected to give birth during the run of production, Cat Deeley, one of the leading television hosts in the UK, has been named to host the second season of the hit series. Deeley has won many awards for her work on "CD: UK Live," on which she has appeared for the last six years; her three years on "SM: TV Live"; and many shows for the MTV UK, BBC and ITV networks.
