MITCH NEDICK TO JOIN THE CW AS EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
MICHAEL ROSS TO HEAD BUSINESS AFFAIRS FOR NEW NETWORK
Mitch Nedick has been named Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, The CW, the new fifth broadcast television network, a joint venture between Warner Bros. Entertainment and CBS Corporation scheduled to launch in the Fall of 2006. Additionally, Michael Ross has been named Executive Vice President, Business Affairs, The CW. The announcements were made today by John Maatta, Chief Operating Officer, The CW, to whom Nedick and Ross will report.
In his new capacity, Nedick will be the point person for the new network's finance and day-to-day administration. Ross will spearhead business affairs for The CW, including all network talent, development and license fee negotiations.
"It is with great pleasure that we welcome Mitch and Michael to The CW," said Maatta. "We have worked closely together over the last decade, and Michael and Mitch are both savvy executives with a wealth of knowledge that will benefit this nascent enterprise. Mitch's keen analytical skills and range of experience at both The WB and Tribune Broadcasting make him the perfect fit for this critical position. Michael is highly regarded in the television community as a very skilled and astute executive, and his forthright and steady approach will serve The CW well as we build towards our fall launch and beyond."
One of the first ten employees hired at The WB, Nedick has been Executive Vice President, Finance & Operations since 2000. He has been an integral part of the network's growth from one night of programming to a six-night, 30-hour-a-week operation. Previously, Nedick spent nine years with the Tribune Broadcasting Company, where he last held the position of Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Tribune California Properties. Prior to that, he also held key positions at KTLA in Los Angeles, NBC-TV and Arthur Young & Company.
Nedick is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and sits on the Dean's Advisory Council of the American University School of Communications.
Ross joined The WB as Senior Vice President, Business Affairs in 1997, and was promoted to Executive Vice President, Business Affairs in 2003. He has overseen all network business affairs functions for the network over the past ten years. Before The WB, Ross was Senior Vice President, Business Affairs at ABC Productions from 1990-96. Ross began his business affairs career at Norman Lear and Bud Yorkin's Tandem Productions/T.A.T. Communications and Embassy Television.
As previously announced, the new CW Network will consist of a six-night, 13-hour primetime lineup including Monday through Friday nights from 8:00-10:00 PM (ET/PT); Sundays from 7:00-10:00 PM (ET/PT); Sunday from 5:00-7:00 PM (ET/PT) outside of prime time as well as a Monday-Friday afternoon block from 3:00-5:00 PM (ET/PT) and a five-hour Saturday morning animation block. Altogether, the network will program 30 hours a week over seven days.
