New Adult Swim Series Minoriteam to Debut Sunday, March 19 at 12 a.m. (ET, PT)
Ethnic Superheroes Right Wrongs, One Slur at a Time
Wherever and whenever the forces of evil and oppression strike, or, at the very least, assemble some truly incomprehensible plans, Minoriteam is there. The new Adult Swim series Minoriteam, created by Adam de la Pea, Todd James and Peter Girardi, makes its debut on Sunday, March 19, at 12 a.m. (ET, PT).
Dr. Wang is the leader of Minoriteam, a group of superheroes who uses racial stereotypes to fight racial stereotypes. This wheelchair-bound mathematical genius is the mastermind of their efforts. Fasto is the fastest man on the planet. Jewcano combines all the powers of the Jewish faith with the destructive force of a volcano. Non-Stop, the alter-ego of former pro skater Dave Raj, is a convenience store clerk who cannot be shot. The final member of the team is Richard Escartin, an oil billionaire who, as El Jefe, wields a super-charged leafblower that can not only suck and blow with deadly force, but is so powerful that it allows him to fly and rip holes in time and space.
Of course, a team this impressive must have a truly evil adversary. Thats where the White Shadow comes in. Both a shadowy man and a shadowy corporation, the White Shadow is bent on destroying the Minoriteam and everything it stands for. Hes joined by a stable of lackeys including The Corporate Ladder, The Standardized Test and Racist Frankenstein.
Adam de la Pea wrote for The Man Show and Jimmy Kimmel Live and also created and starred in the series Im with Busey. Peter Girardi, founder of the digital entertainment company Funny Garbage, is a world-renowned graphic artist who started his career by writing graffiti. Todd James is an internationally recognized artist who has done commercial work for some of hip hops leading artists. He started as a graffiti artist and his work has been seen in some of the worlds top museums and galleries. All three worked on the Comedy Central series Crank Yankers; Adam served as a writer, Todd as a puppet designer and production designer and Peter as a production designer.
